The Problem

How can busy students manage anxiety symptoms and receive the benefits of therapy without the weekly time commitment?

The Approach

A digital experience can be used to track symptoms, set goals, observe thought patterns, and practice actionable coping skills to improve and manage mental health independently.

RESEARCH

Benchmark Analysis

Curology

Curology is an online skincare provider that makes prescription-strength skincare treatments highly accessible. I chose to analyze Curology because it provides a very personalized telehealth experience. They use a quiz to learn about your skincare concerns and connect you with a provider.

The design of Curology’s quiz is minimal and breaks down skincare to those who might be new to it.

I used this as inspiration for the onboarding of my mental healthcare app.

Persona

Journey Map

Using the pain points from the persona, I created a user journey map to illustrate a use case for a dual degree student who needs a way to manage their mental health on their own time.

Insights

From my research insights, we found patterns of where users group features together and used these patterns to shape our information architecture.

Due to the fast-paced class, we jumped straight into high-fidelity designs and rapid prototyping after gathering insights from card sorting.

Reflections

As one of my first experiences designing a product from research to final prototype, I learned about valuing user input and experiences to create digital features that meet their needs and propose a solution to issues they currently face.

This project allowed me to explore product design for telehealth, and I think this field could be very rewarding to work in in the future as my designs can make a positive impact on someone’s well-being.
